South Korea's coffee scene is booming, but this huge growth has had some unintended consequences. The sheer number of both chains and independent cafes means shops are having to compete with each other and lower prices. This has led to price wars and, eventually, many closures. It is, as one roaster told me, "a market for survival of the fittest."
